The Understeam Collection

The UnderSteam Collection is one of the UK’s most significant collections of maritime art, documenting the ships of the British Merchant Navy during the age of steam.

With more than 1,450 artworks, the collection captures a period when British merchant steam vessels were at the heart of global trade and maritime innovation. Many of the works depict ships at sea, alongside scenes of the ports and harbours that supported Britain’s maritime trade.
